DURING YOUR STAY
Our Facilities
Our Rooms
We have 4 ensuite bedrooms with walk in showers, large sliding triple glazed doors opening onto a terrace with private seating area. All bedrooms overlook the Fowey Estuary, the village of Golant and surrounding countryside. Lighting is led, and we have underfloor heating powered by our log boiler. We regret that we are unsuitable for children under 12. We also have an offgrid cabin set at the top of hill above the main building.
Bed Linen and Towels
All rooms have organic bed linen, bamboo & cotton towels are provided (not beach towels) reading lights, a USB charging socket, seating, books, clothes hangers, and a bottle of water, glasses and mugs. There are also kettles in the spring & summer months (we may remove them in the winter to conserve power), with tea and coffee. We also have a small guest fridge in the entrance hall (with fresh milk) or we can provide a small coolbox with blocks that can be changed daily on request.
Breakfast
You are welcome to take your breakfast either in the Breakfast room around the communal table, or to have it brought to your room, or terrace, but please return your crockery for washing up! – at the moment we are not offering our normal buffet, but we give you the same choice, (including some occasional ‘specials’) individually presented – we just ask you to order the night before so we have time to prepare.
Meeting Room
Our spacious meeting room, with its kitchen and ensuite wetroom is available for courses, conferences, small weddings and parties. It has private space on the terrace overlooking the river.
Self Catering
When it is not used as a meeting room we convert it to a self catering apartment (Barn Owl) with the addition of a kingsize bed. We can also add a single bed if required (extra person charge applies). We regret self catering is not possible in any other part of the building.
Library
We have a small library area in our Breakfast room, with seating, magazines, books, jigsaws and some games, which guests are welcome to use. Please remember to leave things behind for the next guest.
Places to Sit
There are lots of places to sit – either on your own private part of the terrace, or there are various tables and chairs around the building, plus benches in every area of our wilder land. We also have a generous decking area around our wildlife pond, with more seating.
Parking
We have one parking space per room in our parking area halfway up our rather steep track. We ask guests to drive up to the top to unload, and then please leave the car in the parking area and walk the rest, in order to preserve the tranquility. If the track is too steep or daunting for you, you have the option to park in the village (P&D) car park, and either walk up, or if we are around, we may be able to come and pick you and your luggage up. if you have mobility needs, then normally it is possible to park next to the building.
12 acres to explore
We have 12 acres of mixed wood and pasture, with a large wildlife pond, which guests are welcome to explore. There are lovely views, and seats in each area. We also have a polytunnel and vegetable beds. cultivated useing the ‘no dig’, permaculture methods. We also produce our own charcoal on site.
Miles of Walking
There are miles of walking paths to explore, including access to the Saints Way Path – running from Padstow to Fowey, and you can arrange kayaking tours and hire from Encounter Cornwall or paddleboard lessons and tours from Paddle Cornwall, situated in the village. We are very happy to advise/suggest routes.
We can connect you to a local practitioner of therapeutic massage and treatments, which you can enjoy in the comfort of your room, or a treatment room is available in the village.
Local Artwork
We have local artwork for sale in an ever changing display throughout the building.
Electric Cars
We now have two type 2 7Kw charging pods in our car park which are for the use of our guests. These are ‘ongrid’ at the moment using green electricity. At the present time they are free to use, although we reserve the right to make a modest charge for their use.
