MAKING A BOOKING

Terms & Conditions

How to book

To make a booking please use the booking facility on this website. We normally only accept bookings of 2 nights or more in advance but you are very welcome to enquire about last minute availability. Don’t forget to let us know of any dietary or other requirements as soon as you are able. We regret we are not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

Please read our information notes and terms & conditions prior to booking.

If you have any requests/questions please use the contact page to get in touch, or give us a ring – our mobile numbers are 07961 805505 or 07976 466123.

Payment

We normally take payment in full at the time of booking.

Cancelling your bookings or changing your dates

We strongly advise you to take out cancellation insurance.

When you book, you accept responsibility for the full cost of the booking, even if you are prevented from coming due to unforeseen circumstances.

Please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can try to relet your room. If we are able to relet then we will refund your payment, minus 10% to cover our costs. If we are unable to relet then no monies will be refunded.

If you wish to amend your booking, then a fee of 10% will apply.

We reserve the right to refuse any booking or cancel bookings already made (subject to refunding any money you’ve paid) without further liability on our behalf.

Check in time is from 4pm to 6pm and check out by 10am. If you wish to arrive/depart outside of these times please contact us prior to making your booking. We are in a tiny village and thinking of our neighbours we cannot accept check ins after 8.30pm – in the dark we are pretty difficult to find, and you risk disturbing your fellow guests. If this is going to be a problem we would respectfully suggest you arrive on the next day – we may be able to accommodate an earlier check in – that will depend on our work schedule

Everywhere on site is non smoking

We have a wooden building, and are surrounded by trees and grassland, so please keep yourself and the land safe by not smoking. Also, we have battery candles for the same reason, and ask you not to bring/use ordinary candles.

Heat and Power

The building relies on solar power for both heating and power. In the colder months our own logs power a log gasification boiler that we use to provide heating and hot water and a generator as a last resort. We have a large, 1000 litre hot water tank, which should provide more than enough hot water, but it will take time to reheat. Please be aware that these resources are not unlimited, but modest use will ensure that there is enough for everyone. We cannot take responsibility for lack of power or hot water due to negligent use. Please also think about any appliances you bring with you – they may use a considerable amount of power, which with an unlimited power as you may normally have, is not a problem. You will be given full details on arrival, plus there is more information in your room folder.

The building is not staffed 24 hours a day, but we live approx 2 mins walk away just below the building, and we are on site for much of the day, either in the building itself or working on the land. We will give you full contact details on arrival and ways to contact us or staff.

Noise

We are situated in 12 acres just above the village of Golant, and our emphasis is on quiet enjoyment of the space. Please respect other villagers and guests and keep noise to a minimum. If you would like to listen to music, please either do so in your room, or with earphones, allowing fellow guests to enjoy the sounds of birdsong. Enjoy sitting outside in the evenings, but please keep the noise level to a minimum after 10.30pm. We reserve the right the ask disruptive guests to leave.

Pets

Pets are allowed by prior arrangement and payment only. They must not be left in your room or any part of the building unattended, and not allowed on furniture and beds. We ask you to be aware of the wild nature of the landscape and keep your dog under your control at all times. We appreciate it is not always easy, but please do not let your dog bark or whine excessively so that it spoils the quiet enjoyment of other guests. We reserve the right to ask you to remove the pet if it is causing a nuisance, and you will be responsible for costs incurred in finding kennels accommodation etc.

In making a booking you agree…

  1. To pay for any losses or damage to the property (if you are hiring the entire building, then a damage deposit will be required)
  2. To take good care of the property and leave your room(s) in a clean and tidy condition on departure. We reserve the right to make a charge for extra cleaning if your room(s) are not left in a satisfactory condition.
  3. Not to part with possession of the property or share it with people not listed on the booking form.
  4. Not to exceed the total number of people stipulated at the time of booking.
  5. To permit the owners, staff or their agents reasonable access to room(s)/property.
  6. To recognise and adhere to any reasonable requests for quietness/safety/power & water use.

Complaints

We try to ensure that the property is prepared and presented to the highest standard. If you find anything missing, or have a problem or cause for complaint please let us know immediately, and we will make every effort to solve the issues at the time. We welcome your suggestions of how you think we may improve our service to you. Due to the nature of our being off grid, occasionally difficulties may arise. We ask for your patience and understanding, and be assured we will resolve issues as quickly as possible.
