Finally I have managed to get my head around creating a subscription newsletter……. yes, I know it has only taken me four years, and everyone else seems to manage it!
Partly, during the pandemic and the cost of living problems that so many face, I thought ‘why would anyone be interested in what we’ve been doing?’ and ‘Were we bragging about having all this space and nature around us? is it insensitive?’
However, talking to my guests and followers on social media the concensus was that people do want to know what’s been happening when they are not there. We are lucky enough to have a growing list of return guests, some of whom bring or send friends and relatives, and they want to connect to what some have called their ‘special place’.
These people are also special to us; many have become friends and sources of inspiration and encouragement. They also make our lives a joy – no explaining where we are – yes, the hill is steep, yes, it is narrow. no, the roads are not always two cars wide in the area, no we don’t have TVs or WiFi, or hot tubs, swimming pools and restaurants. They accept with grace and good humour the requests to use the kettle on the gas stove when we have low battery power, they take two minute showers and save water, they leave their recycling – but very little of it, they tell us of all the little sustainable things they have been doing since we last met…..
So we would not only like to keep in touch with these guests, but anyone else who might be interested in knowing more, or planning to visit. And as we really do value your company, custom and support, there will be a few special offers just for you via codes that are not available anywhere else.
To be honest, as most of the housekeeping (not forgetting Carol!) is done by me, along with the ordering, cooking, gardening and website and social media, you are not likely to be bombarded with endless missives!
