Your safety and enjoyment are of prime importance to us. The building has a fire alarm system, and a sprinkler system with sensors in every bedroom, and emergency lighting inside and out. In the event of the alarm going off, please follow the signs to the evacuation point – every room has a map and details of where to meet. All the bedrooms have fire doors, and so we ask you to make sure they are kept closed. No smoking is permitted in, or anywhere near the building, nor candles or any type of naked flame. We have LED battery candles, and fairy lights if you would like to use them and bedroom lights are dimmable.

You are very welcome to wander all of our land, but please be aware that it is a wild landscape. You need to take care as the ground is uneven and can be slippery after rain. We are hoping that the central Sanctuary Field can be kept for peaceful contemplation, but there are plenty of benches all around the land to sit and enjoy the views, birdsong or even the wind in the willows! Our pond is not fenced, so please take care around the edges. this is partly the reason that we are unsuitable for children under 12. There are a selection of wellies and umbrellas for you to borrow.

In the meeting room and our camping pod there are woodburning stoves. In the meeting room the woodburner is seasonal as there is underfloor heating and 12 inches of insulation. Both woodburners have detailed instructions, and there will be enough kindling and very dry, seasoned wood for your stay. Some guests do not understand how efficient they are and overburn, potentially causing damage to the woodburner and the building. This is not only dangerous, but wasteful in resources and we would seek compensation in an event of damage through incorrect use. We ask you to burn nothing other than our wood as we absolutely know its moisture content and species; in the event that you do run out we will have more available to purchase.

Our 100 metre concrete lane is fairly steep and not lit at night. We have provided mini torches in each room, but you may want to bring your own torch/head-torch with you. The outside of the building is lit by motion sensors once you make it to the top of the hill! Also, not all of the village is lit at night, so if you are returning from the pub after dark, please be aware and take extra care.
