WELCOME TO YOUR SANCTUARY IN CORNWALL
A place to unplug, unwind, relax and reconnect with nature.
Welcome to the Sanctuary Cornwall, our award winning offgrid eco lodge. We sit surrounded by 12 acres of woodland, pasture, orchards and permaculture veg gardens, high above the village of Golant , overlooking the protected Fowey Estuary.
.
If you are looking to switch off, relax and recharge, and also have a low impact sustainable break, then we are here to introduce you to a different pace of life.
Our passion is nature, encouraging our guests to connect with the landscape & our projects. But don’t worry, our beautiful building with 4 ensuite rooms is anything but basic – everything is so comfortable that you would never realise we are offgrid!
Please see our comprehensive green policy here.….
Footpaths lead from our land to Fowey and onwards to the South West Coast Path, or towards Lostwithiel. You can kayak & paddleboard directly from the village, either from Encounter Cornwall, or bring your own kit and we can advise on routes and tides. We are keen walkers and garden lovers, so we can share some of our favourite places further afield. We are also a few miles from the Eden Project.
We have a handbuilt offgrid Pod, with compost toilet & kitchen cabin (as well as a shower room and flushing toilet) for those guests wanting to be even closer to nature! This is further up the hill, among the trees with fabulous views!
We would also like to make it clear that we do not cater for children – our guests choose us in order to have a quiet and peaceful stay. We would consider guests of 13yrs and older, providing parents are very clear about what is expected in terms of peace & quiet!
We love dogs and welcome well behaved dogs by arrangement for an extra charge. Please see our dog policy here…… Dog Stays
We have 4G, although no WiFi, but we do have EV charging on site for an extra charge.

THE FINEST LOCAL PRODUCE
THE FINEST LOCAL PRODUCE
We offer a continental buffet breakfast, so that you can help yourself when you are ready. We normally offer this between 8am-10am, but are happy to be flexible if you can give us some notice! We try to source our food as locally as possible – bread is either from Quay Bakery or Niles in Fowey. Our local Leyonne farm produces milk for Trewithen Diaries, so we use their butter, milk and yoghurt as much as possible. Eggs are also supplied by the farm, the coffee is from Olfactory coffee roasters in Falmouth and tea from the Tregothnan estate, also near Falmouth.

GET OUT THERE!
You are spoilt for choice in this beautiful part of Cornwall! The Sanctuary has 12 acres of sloping land to explore. It is being managed as a wildlife haven, so it is not manicured and has uneven paths, rabbit holes and tree roots, so please take care where you put your feet. We have mown paths around to help guide you, but point out that it is your responsibility to take care. Paths from our land lead to over 100 acres of wild space, known as ‘Golant Downs’ which have paths leading through the woods down to Sawmills Creek (Bodmin Pill) and on to Fowey.
